Day 59 - Windsor knot

Very theatrical Sergio Rossi crimson and cream heels at Melbourne's historic Windsor Hotel, accompanied by L'Artisan Parfumeur's Premier Figuier Extreme. The cream strap is semi-rigid and winds around the ankle like a snake. Oh how we shoe-fanciers must suffer! These shoes, spectacular as they are, are bloody hard to walk in.

Day 58 - Dolce & Gabbana

D & G ponyskin leopard and chocolate brown patent leather slingbacks with Serge Lutens' Borneo 1834, following a party on Brunswick Street. Pictured here poised, ready to party on.

Day 57 - Debra zebra

Saturday night following a pearl of a dinner at Pearl, these Giuseppe Zanotti black shot silk mules with kitten heels and jewel trim are luxuriating on a sumptuous silver chair covered in a fabric fittingly labelled 'Debra Zebra', accompanied by Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

Day 56 - Splendor in the grass

Enjoying their freedom on a day away from work with a dear friend from Kiwiland, who took the snap, these Manolo Blahnik minimalist black strappy sandals (style is Csirada) had a little frolic in the grass. Timing was unfortunate as it coincided with the local primary school unleashing a platoon of children (ugh!) into the park for PE, so our stay was abbreviated. These charming Manolos - which have a 3" heel - were accompanied by a lovely rich green scent (well, actually very rich and oriental, but it's in an exceptionally beautiful green bottle) from Amouage, Epic Woman. It somehow goes with the lush greenery and the elegance of the minimalist sandals.

Day 55 - Florentino

Superb almost-vintage Manolo Blahnik taupe suede mules with large buckle detail and - of course - flared kitten heels, posed at the front of Florentino, swathed in a cloud of Chanel's Coromandel from Les Exclusifs. A friend, my photographer, today found this somewhat assertive fragrance overwhelming. Nevertheless, Kittie felt it was perfectly appropriate on this occasion.

Day 54 - Retro

Pictured today are some retro red Amalfi slingbacks purchased at Nordstrom taking a breath of fresh air. They're accompanied by Chanel's great classic from 1926, Bois des Iles.

Day 53 - Serge/Sergio, I Love You

This may look like I have suddenly lost a leg, but I haven't - it's just the unflattering angle of the shot made my other foot look like a pig's trotter, so I chopped it off and this post is therefore unipedal. I'm sure my readers will understand. Anyway, this magnificent shoe (be assured there are two of them, both in excellent health) is by Sergio Rossi, in black with tan trim and an elegant heel and elasticised slingback that actually works. Worn on this rather chilly summer's day with Cedre by Serge Lutens. I just realised - Serge, Sergio - have you met? - I love you both! xxx

Day 52 - Lady Grey

Grey crushed velvet Vera Wang Simply Vera slides from Kohl's, a department store chain based in America's Midwest. Worn with the refreshing Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Day 51 - Purrfect

Donald J Pliner kitten heel leopard-print ponyskin slides having a late Sunday lunch on Brunswick Street, accompanied by Jo Malone's Vintage Gardenia.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

Day 50 - Sunflowers

I'm aware there's been a lot of gold lately. Here's more. Ferragamo gold evening sandals with sequin, pearl and sparkle detail out to dinner at Da Noi. The heels (not pictured) are high slim gold spikes. They are worn with Frederic Malle's beautiful Portrait of a Lady.

Day 49 - Golden

Charles by Charles David gold slides with stack heels relaxing on a Friday afternoon, contemplating the weekend. Worn with Serge Lutens' Datura Noir.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Day 48 - Return of the King

I've missed you, Mr Blahnik. But here you are at last, with your inimitable style and characteristic flared heels (thank you, thank you, you are an engineering genius), making an appointment on Spring Street (The European, again). The picture is of a lovely pair of modified Carolyne slingbacks - a Blahnik staple - this time perforated in an interesting design and in beige. Total heaven. Worn with a sumptuous 90s fragrance from the house of Hermes, 24 Faubourg.

Day 47 - Two tones

I love a Mary Jane, and these attract quite a few compliments which makes me love them even more. They are by Kate Spade in fuchsia and a lavender-tinged pink (the heel is in the darker shade - it doesn't show in the photo). The fragrance is the slightly elusive but very elegant Chanel 28 La Pausa, a beautiful iris scent, from their range Les Exclusifs, available only in Chanel boutiques and a very few rarefied department stores worldwide.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Day 46 - Baby blues

Striking Narciso Rodriguez baby blue sandals with lime white stack heels, paired with YSL's classic fragrance Rive Gauche.

Monday, February 14, 2011

Day 45 - Say it with shoes

Happy Valentine's Day! These Jean-Michel Cazabat raw silk slides were an obvious choice. Note heart-shaped cutouts and toe cleavage. They are having a romantic time with some Lili Marlene roses from my garden at the Cellar Bar (thank you, Jose, for the photo!) Worn with the fabulous new rose fragrance from Frederic Malle, Portrait of a Lady.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Day 44 - Cheap and cheery

Cheap and cheery they may be, but also fabulous. When these Isaac Mizrahi for Target (US) slides came out in around 2006, I bought up every pair I could find in my size and ended up with them in navy (pictured), hot pink and beige. The style is Georgina. They are made in China - suede uppers with delicate fabric bow detail, grosgrain fabric toebeds and brown stack kitten heels. They cost an average of around $20 a pair discounted. They are classic and comfortable, great for weekends, and I still get stopped in the street by inquisitive women wanting to know where I bought them. So Isaac, you were on a big winner here and please bring them back! Worn with Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne.

Day 43 - High on the hog

Following an al fresco lunch, Prada mules - mauve with black flower and foliage trim - are perched on a Harley Davidson 12C Sportster, wearing Jean Patou Colony. Colony is a 1930s fragrance, but my scent is the 1980s re-issue, so I feel absolved from any colonial implications. Colony is very interesting: pineapple chypre, and I love it. And as for the Sportster, well...

Day 42 - Sublime

Christian Louboutin beige slingbacks - their name is Sublimin - posed briefly before rushing out of the office, accompanied by a discreet cloud of Guerlain's radiant grapefruit masterpiece Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, another summer favourite.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Day 41 - Meshy

Venturing out for a quick lunch, these Max Studio caramel and lime green mesh numbers with ankle straps and stack kitten heels are looking cute on the mosaic floor of Self Preservation. Worn with an old favourite, Chanel No. 19.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Day 40 - Middle Eastern

Pictured in a blurry mood on some rather dodgy carpet, these Jimmy Choo slingbacks are stirring after a delicious Middle Eastern lunch at Melbourne's Maha. They are chocolate brown patent with shirred brown suede trim, worn with the bewitching Maharanih by Parfums de Nicolai, featuring orange, geranium and patchouli.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Day 39 - Bar flies

Prada mules with leather flower and foliage decoration and slim kitten heels relaxing with a drink at the bar. Accompanied by Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day 38 - Work shoes

Surveying the city on a summer's afternoon, Manolo Blahnik tan slingbacks with silver disc detail are taking a breather from a hard day at the office. Those flared heels are the secret to comfort. Worn with Amouage Dia, the daytime version of the luxurious Amouage Gold for Women.

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Day 37 - Simply red

These lovely Christian Louboutin heels are exquisitely elegant, but I must say, M Louboutin, not the most comfortable footwear I own. So here they are captured on a rare outing, accompanied by 1270, an intriguing fragrance by P Frapin & Cie. I was given a sample by the lovely Lucy of Agence de Parfum: apparently it's from a family firm that is famous for making cognac. Perfect.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Day 36 - Look right

Hot pink Sergio Rossi slides with wooden stack heels on a Sydney street in very hot steamy weather. They are teamed with a great fragrance for high temperatures, Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

Friday, February 4, 2011

Day 35 - On the prowl

These creations by the maestro - Manolo Blahnik - are truly stunning. Mules with uppers in two animal prints matched with distressed gold heels on a distressed Baltic pine floor. They are matched with a wonderful brand new rose incense fragrance, Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle.

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Day 34 - Scholl mates

When I kick off my heels and feel like some comfort, I enjoy padding around the house in my Dr Scholl exercise sandals. Dr Scholl's are, of course, along with skyscrapers, McDonald's and Ferris wheels, another great Chicago innovation, and I've been a devoted fan since the 1970s when I inherited some from my grandmother. This is a pretty pink pair I received as a present from a very thoughtful friend. Worn with Fragonard's Vetyver.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Day 33 - I do like to be beside the seaside

John Fluevog red sandals with heart-shaped heels and gold buckles at The Stokehouse by St Kilda beach, accompanied by Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle. The soles are inscribed with "love or hate, the choice is yours", and the heels with "choose love". I heart John Fluevog!

Day 32 - Party

Partying into the early hours celebrating a special birthday, these sparkling Pedro Garcia party sandals with gold leather heels - paired with Amouage Lyric Woman - are pictured socialising with some lovely Gucci loafers from Italy via Honolulu, and To Boot captoes from New York.
