Day 31 - Chateau Chanel

These superb vintage Chanel cork sandals were purchased at Leslie Hindman's fabulous auction house in Chicago in 2010 by a very dear friend of mine, and brought over to Australia where they are enjoying a renaissance as very upscale "drinking sandals". You see, the heels are like champagne corks and have "Chateau Chanel" printed on them, along with the interlocking c's. They are standing outside The European on another hot summer's day after a long lunch, accompanied by Serge Lutens' Fleurs de Citronnier.

  1. How fabulous are these?! Love the pedicure, too.

(So proud to have been able to actually contribute to this celebration of your 'shoe'.... Heh.)

  2. I met Leslie in Chicago. What a hoot. Serving champagne at her auctions must have helped her sales. Love those and I'm not a shoe guy.

  3. Tintin, thank you for your comment, especially if you're not a shoe guy! I think Leslie is really impressive and runs the best auctions. However, on this occasion champagne wasn't the inspiration for my purchase. I saw them in the catalog on the other side of the world, took a chance they would fit and despatched my friend to wave a paddle at the auction. Of course, as if it was meant to be, they fit like gloves. I neglected to mention they are lined in a brilliant pistachio leather.

  4. I'm thinking a cork sole on a guys shoe with his favorite vineyard stamped on the side of the heel is a no brainer. But yours will always look better.

  5. And there was a bidding war; and I've never lost a war.
