Day 181 - Shoes and the city 2

Elegant Kate Spade nude patent peeptoes with black trim reprising their appearance earlier in the year. This time it will be easier to see the detail - refer to January's post: Shoes and the city. They are worn with Chanel's No 5 Eau Premiere.

Day 180 - Riding boots

 

Cole Haan boots purchased many years ago at Nordstrom Rack in Chicago, worn with Serge Lutens' Cedre.

Day 179 - Slightly snaky

Charming Manolo Blahnik beige pumps with snakeskin detail on the vamps - not shown are the usual fabulously engineered MB flared heels - in a brief patch of winter sunlight.

Day 178 - Thank God it's Monday

Actually, I'm not really glad it's Monday at all!  First day back at the office after my lovely holiday and those sake containers in the background look tempting, even this early in the day. Still, the elegant and supremely comfortable brown suede L K Bennett pumps I'm wearing are some consolation, as is the accompanying hefty spray of Amouage Jubilation 25.  Divine!

Day 177 - Madame Butterfly

Kittie has just flown in from New York to Melbourne. One could be forgiven for thinking these deep red patent peeptoes by Kate Spade are helping to solicit custom at a bordello (check the carpet...yech!)  In fact, they are at the Butterfly Club, catching the latest show by the brilliant Rachel Berger, Clever Dicks. And are worn with Chanel's No 18. 

Day 176 - Bleecker Street

One last shot of New York, this time taken during a day shopping on Bleecker Street. These are Simply Vera for Kohl's dark blue flip flops with flower decoration, and they are worn with L'Artisan Parfumeur's Ananas Fizz (now, sadly, discontinued).  

Day 175 - Auction block

Sergio Rossi sandals inspecting some of the merchandise at a preview at Christie's in New York's Rockefeller Center. They were last seen enjoying high tea at The Drake in Chicago and were worn with Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle.

Day 174 - Pythonesque

At a great spot to see Manhattan, these special Christian Louboutin snakeskin peeptoes are surveying the scene. The great spot is the top of the Standard Hotel, and the accompanying fragrance is L'Eau de l'Artisan by L'Artisan Parfumeur.

Day 173 - Gotham City

The city, the heat, the shoes... These steamy numbers by Moschino Cheap and Chic, purchased very "bon marche" at the fabulous Daffy's, are prowling around the Meatpacking District after dark. They are partnered with L'Artisan Parfumeur's Mandarine limited edition picked up from the L'Artisan boutique at Henri Bendel. Try it, it's a lightish cologne heavy on citrus and cedar - sublime!

Day 172 - Black tie

Magnificent Manolo Blahnik black satin peeptoe pumps with bows posed in front of the Lincoln Center in New York, shot by none other than The Trad! They are accompanied by Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

Day 171 - Gramercy

Yes, dear reader, we're officially in aubergine - or eggplant - heaven (your choice, "depending on which university you went to", as my favourite grandmother was fond of saying).  These sublime aubergine satin evening sandals with diamante buckles are by Jimmy Choo.  The small buckles on the slingbacks are also delicately studded with diamante, a beautiful touch.  They are posing after a very delicious and enjoyable dinner at New York's Gramercy Tavern, surrounded by a small fragrant cloud of Ormonde Jayne's Frangipani.

Day 170 - Indian summer

Reclining  on a sultry evening following an Indian feast at Manhattan's Tulsi, these jewel-encrusted Rene Caovilla heels with gold, orange and green trim and blush lacquer heels are accompanied by Chanel's Bel Respiro.

Day 169 - Zipcode 10022

You know you are in a civilised part of the world when a shoe store gets its own zipcode - in this case in Manhattan's Saks Fifth Avenue shoe department - 10022.  The sales are on and these luscious Roger Viver satin peeptoes with diamante buckle trim and brilliantly curvaceous heels are a steal at $700.  Kittie is trying them on but so far resisting, fortified by Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle.

Day 168 - Embellished

Blush pink leather flats with sparkly 'embellishment' by Vera Wang Lavender enjoying themselves on their last night in Chicago (for a while), accompanied on a balmy evening by Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

Day 167 - Mercat

Out to dinner at Mercat a la Planxa, these vibrant red suede flats by French Sole New York are pictured on some lovely Paul Smith carpet, paired with Terre d'Hermes by Hermes.

Day 166 - In the pink

Calypso St Barth for Target pink fabric beach-ready flip-flops (as Americans say) resting on a colour-appropriate chair after a very hard day walking around the city.  They are resting, glass of (dry) riesling close by, accompanied by Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan.

Day 165 - Urban animals

These spotted brown and off-white ponyskin sandals with silver trim by Kate Spade are checking out downtown Chicago today, accompanied by a splash or two of Hermes' Voyage d'Hermes.

Day 164 - We're not in Kansas!

No, Dorothy, wake up!  We're in Chicago, Illinois, it's 2011 and Rahm is mayor!  (I know, things have changed, but it's all good...) So, these amazing disco ball shoes are enjoying themselves immensely at a party thrown by Joseph the Butler that went all afternoon and into the evening.  See how they're throwing light onto the wooden floor? They are by Kate Spade, Italian made (unlike the recent product I've inspected, Kittie says disapprovingly),  encrusted with gold sequins and finished off with a truly great touch - a red patent stiletto. Definitely head turners, perfect for a party.  Worn with another class act, Chanel's 31 Rue Cambon.

Day 163 - Nude

Out having a drink on a suddenly chiilly evening, these L K Bennett nude patent peeptoes are paired with Chanel's Bel Respiro.  But wait, there's more...some guest shoes!  These numbers are from some years back and are by John Fluevog, also in a nudish shade, offset of course by very interesting heels in glossy black.

Day 162 - Black and white

Charming summer slides in off-white leather and black grosgrain trim from Chanel, relaxing after a hard day's shopping, accompanied by 31 Rue Cambon....by Chanel, of course.

Day 161 - Nightwood

Sofft walking sandals relaxing after a delicious dinner at Chicago's Nightwood, worn with Eau de Cologne by Chanel.

Day 160 - Calypso

It certainly felt quite tropical here in Chicago today. To complement the sultriness, these Calypso St Barth for Target wedge espadrilles in vibrant aqua fabric and bright green interiors were having a well-earned rest after a big day, sipping a glass of chilled French rose.  They were partnered with Chanel's yummy Bel Respiro.

Day 159 - A day in the jungle

Kittie's playing with being one of the big cats today in her Emma Hope leopard print ponyskin ballet flats. Worn with Terre d'Hermes by Hermes.

Day 158 - Special

These very special Manolo Blahnik caramel suede peeptoes with black stitching and wood stack heels are out braving the heat today, accompanied by Chanel's Bel Respiro.  

Day 157 - Dog day afternoon

Seriously divine Lanvin espadrilles in pinky beige leather with grosgrain ties, pictured with BK at his studio in Chicago, looking rather like a demon dog.  BK is shortly to be bathed in Aesop's new 'Animal', an aromatic wash for the four-legged, while Kittie is again wearing the refreshing Osmanthe Yunnan by Hermes.

Day 156 - Tea for two

Super-sexy Sergios pictured at the Drake Hotel in Chicago in the middle of one of those fabulous Midwestern thunderstorms, photographed after an enjoyable afternoon tea. These eye-catching Sergio Rossi heels have zip(per)s at the back, which are not visible in the photo. They were worn with Chanel's 31 Rue Cambon.

Day 155 - Chicago

Aah, Chicago, Chicago, you're my kinda town!  Shown relaxing in comfort are these very special and luxe Manolo Blahnik black suede slingbacks with lovely scalloped cutout detail. They are worn with Hermes' Osmanthe Yunnan, a perfect citrusy offset to the city heat.

Day 154 - Pearlers

On a rainy day, trusty Lanvin flats in a crinkly-look patent with pearl-trimmed cross-straps are posed in front of a view of Vancouver harbour, worn with Ormonde Jayne's Isfarkand.

Day 153 - Chanel in the land of the Canucks

Aren't these divine?  Spectator-style beige and black Mary Janes in the classic Chanel style, with flared black heels. Note the black tips on the straps, a lovely touch. And although it's not possible to see in this shot, the gold buckles are stamped "Chanel". They are worn with Bel Respiro by - who else? -  Chanel.

Day 152 - Canuckmania

Vancouver is in a state of mania over the local ice hockey team the Canucks making the Stanley Cup.  These Prada slides are trying hard to get into the mood.  Yes, they have been shot before - twice - but they are great favourites, and travelling tends to limit the shoe wardrobe a little.    Grey and drizzling outside, so perfect with Frapin's fabulous 1270.  Go Canucks!
