My year in shoes

Whew! New Year's Day and Kittie's feet are finally taking a rest after her big year in shoes. It's been a great 365 days, during which I think it's fair to say I've come close to achieving my goal of wearing every pair of shoes I own - some only once, and none more than four times (my favourite beige Louboutins). In total, Kittie donned 228 pairs of shoes and wore 127 different perfumes. Not surprisingly, on the all-important shoe front, the most frequent appearances were made by Manolo Blahnik with 39 pairs appearing 72 times. They were followed on the frequently worn list by Kate Spade (20 pairs), Prada (16 pairs) and Jimmy Choo (nine pairs). On the fragrance front, Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle was the most frequently spritzed (22 times), followed by Amouage's Jubilation 25 and Serge Lutens' Cedre (both tied with 13 times) and Chanel's Bel Respiro (12 times). Thank you to all of my long-suffering photographers: I couldn't have done it without you. And that was my year in shoes...

  2. Fabulous wrap-up of the year, and fabulous start to 2012. A pair of nudes next to lush rose petals on a fresh white towel shows mother nature at her best! Well done Kittie.

  6. A work of beauty, art, intelligence and hot feet. So glad I was able to see them in person. Nice touch with the flower petals...

  7. Is that it?

I wish I'd seen some of these in person.... and we must not forget the legs and feet that were so adorably adorned. I am guessing they were yours, Kitty? Or do you have a young daughter who was the model?

Even the weather has shed a tear for the end of this era!

  9. And Anonymous, could you by any chance be the Captain? Of course the human props were all Kittie's. Take care in that boat of yours today...

  10. Kittie - what is the future of footwear?

  11. I have no real idea, but I suspect clumpy gladiator sandals will fade from view soon, at least in fashionable footwear circles. Ditto hooker heels - except, of course, for real hookers. Kittie predicts a flight to quality: and the patron saint of quality footwear, as we know, is Manolo. Yes, sanity will prevail I think, and the next big thing will be a return to the classic. Hallelujah!
