Day 239 - Perfect, classic, red

I've been saving these up all year. They are one of my most treasured pairs of shoes, worn to bits in walking expeditions in many cities around the world, but somehow only improving with age. Bought in Macy's in New York in 2002, these bright blood red ankle boots are by the now defunct maison des chaussures Charles Jourdan. Even though they were reduced, it was in the days when the Aussie dollar was trading at about 50c to the USD, and the transaction was deeply painful (I'm talking $500, on sale!). I reasoned that the purchase was a long term investment, and I might end up paying a dollar a wear. A good call, as it turned out. I think they may have been produced during Patrick Cox's brief reign at CJ. Anyway, to whoever was responsible, thank you! They are worn with another great French export, the refreshingly herbaceous Eau de Gloire by Parfum d'Empire.

  2. it's almost shocking, no it IS shocking, to see your legs covered by trousers/jeans.

but I love the shoes/boots; but how do I have no recall of having seen them in person?

  3. Joseph, even Kittie on a rare occasion dons a pair of jeans. She has astonished people who believe there must be some unfortunate disfigurement preventing her from wearing jeans by turning up in them and not looking too bad. Not sure why you haven't met these before, but glad you love them too.
